Doctor of Occupational Therapy

The Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree is designed for the individuals who wish to move into roles as leading clinicians, managers, and educators in the field of Occupational Therapy. The OTD degree is five-year programme. Occupational Therapy is a challenging field for both male and female. Occupational Therapists are the integral members of rehabilitation multidisciplinary team. A philosophy of self-directed learning and reflection on practice underlies the undergraduate studies. The Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree is designed for the individuals who wish to move into roles as leading clinicians, managers, and educators in the field of Occupational Therapy.

Occupational therapy treats any physical or mental problem that interferes with a person’s ability to perform activities of daily living. Therapy can be provided for anyone from young children to older adults. Some typical injuries or illnesses are: paralysis, injury to a hand, joint disease, injury that limits movement, cognitive impairments, inability to perform personal care tasks, activity of daily living and many more

The OTD programme will equip occupational therapists with the relevant professional knowledge, skills, techniques and ethical values to enable them to apply their acquired expertise at level between the doctors and the patient for efficient health service delivery.

Note:

• This scheme of curriculum is also applicable to annual system; in which two consecutive semesters will be considered as one professional year.
• Credit hours distribution is as following.
• Theory: one Credit hour shall be equal to one hour of teaching per week throughout the semester.
• Practical /Lab: One credit hour shall be equal to two hours of lab work per week throughout the semester.
• Clinical: one credit hour shall be equal to three hours of clinical work per week throughout the semester.
• Thesis: one credit hour shall be equal to three hours of research work per week through the semester.

HOUSE JOB:
• One year of house job will be incorporated at the end of five year degree program.

Admission criteria

Students holding F.Sc. (Pre-medical) with minimum 50% marks from Pakistan, A. Levels with Biology or an equivalent qualification from overseas university/school are eligible to apply. Entrance test is a prerequisite.
